Here we go.... into the holiday season which is a space and time in between 2 pivotally important seasons of our lives that we experience every year at this time. Whether you are someone who celebrates Christmas or not is someone irrelevant in the context of this message. Truth is, the days of holidays that lead us from Dec. 25 - Jan. 1 are really important transitional times for each of our lives. Why the importance you ask? Studies show that these are the specific days that we all seem to run a wide gamut of emotions; where we feel the excitement and yet strangely, also feel discombobulated at the exact same time. It's the end of a mini era for each of us. Our inner being sits at a crossroads, at a point in time when the past needs to be wrapped up in style so that the future can be experienced with fresh eyes and a deeper appreciation. This is a season that invites each one of us to the opportunity of integrating it all, to utilize all our experiences and memories of the past, and make real our genuine appreciation for it whether we can understand it or not. To release any resistance of things that we wished hadn't happened, and breathe into the reality that it took place and somehow strangely, we may even have survived. Ha. This time of the holidays is one last nudging for us to take stock of magic moments, polish up any remaining items to process, and let it all just marinate and stew as we bath in the liminal space between Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, so that we can make available and be ready for what may or may not come in the new year. What we all seem to realize at some point or another is.... people who utilize this transition season from Dec. 25-Jan. 1 wisely choose to "get from the year" vs merely "getting through the year". They choose to show up with bundles of genuine gratitude. Heaping coals of appreciation for the difficult times of the year and the less than difficult times alike. Taking one last look and one more inner reflection so as to let flow the needed life that desires to move into each and every experience we were given. Taking one last moment to appreciate how everything fun and not so fun, pointed us in a new direction - like an arrow that's pointed and guided us to this present moment. What I really adore the most is the incredible feeling of gratitude and love that permeates this time of year - the reminders of how special the people in our lives are to us, how amazingly full and rich our lives are with challenges and opportunities, and how exciting the promise of the New Year coming up!
As I reflect on this last year my heart is full of gratitude for all of you! It has been amazing to meet so many of you and to connect over incredible conversations!
Now I also have to be honest that 2021 has been a hard year too (maybe you can relate)- it provided moments of sadness, loneliness, and struggle that I hope is not going to follow us into 2022. (Fingers crossed)
And in those moments my gratitude for all of you only increased! Reading through your letters and emails, jumping into online conversations and simple phone visits warmed my heart to overflowing.
So where ever you find yourself this holiday season I want you to know that you are an important part of my life, I appreciate you and all you bring to this life and I can not wait to see what 2022 has in store for us!
